Wallington Police Station Front Counter at risk

The Police front counter in Crosspoint House in Wallington is one of the 65 proposed for closure under the London Mayor’s MPS Estates Strategy. With this counter shut Sutton will be left with only the main counter at Sutton Police station, and a front counter in Worcester Park.
The Wallington police teams only recently moved out of the old police station on Stafford Road into Crosspoint House, requiring significant refurbishment works to reprovide a front counter and suitable internal fittings to meet the needs of the police teams located there. This now looks like wasted expenditure with the front counter set to be lost.
There are due to be local consultation events where people can register their views. The Sutton event will be held at the Secombe Theatre Auditorium on Tuesday, 12 February, 2013 -18:00 to 19:00.
There is also an online survey for residents to feed in their views on the Mayor’s Police & Crime Plan and Estates Strategy.
Colin, Monica & I think the Wallington front counter should be retained to ensure local people in Carshalton and Wallington have the same access to their local police as those on the other side of the borough. Do you agree?
