Addressing Woodcote Road Bus Stop Problems

My colleagues Colin Hall, Richard Bailey & myself have received a number of complaints about delivery vehicles blocking the bus stop outside the new Tesco on Woodcote Road in Wallington High Street. This has meant bus passengers, including schoolchildren, having to venture into the road to board the bus.

We have been working with officers to find a solution to the problem. There have been discussions with the shops involved to negotiate better delivery times, however no time in the morning is a good time as far as bus passengers are concerned, as in the early morning commuters are travelling to work, later on it is schoolchildren, then between ten and twelve it is often elderly passengers who want to travel by bus.

A loading bay in the vicinity has been proposed as a more permanent solution, which would then allow the bus stop to be made an urban clearway. Colin, Richard & I are working to get this solution approved and implemented as soon as possible.
