Wallington Station Access Scheme Meeting with Officers

Following up from the stakeholder consultation meeting Councillor Richard Bailey & I met with Paul Blunt, Traffic & Highways Works Manager and representatives from the scheme design consultants PBA. Richard & I wanted the station forecourt layout changed to reflect the concerns expressed by residents during consultation. The consultants advised that providing drop off spaces in front of the station would impact on the length of the bus stop due to the large turning circle required by buses. Richard, Paul & I were concerned that the scheme would not be approved by members at the Local Committee in its current form.

After a great deal more discussion it was felt that a compromise could be reached which meant that dropped off passengers would not need to cross the road in front of the station, whilst still providing physical and access improvements to the area.

As time was short the revised scheme would have to be presented at the meeting, it could not be done in time for agenda despatch.
