Diary of a Sutton Councillor

Jubilee Health Centre blood testing temporarily relocated

The Phlebotomy (blood testing) service has been temporarily relocated to St Helier Hospital whilst NHS South West London, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust who provides the service, the landlord and Sutton CCG work together to resolve some teething issues with the building.

At a meeting with Andrew Grimes, Project Manager for Better Healthcare Closer to Home, Colin & Jayne learnt that as staff and patients settled into the new building it had become apparent that some adaptations were needed to be able to support the services in the centre. Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, as the provider of the phlebotomy service, have taken this action whilst these teething issues are resolved and have temporarily relocated the Phlebotomy service to Sutton and St Helier Hospitals.

It is planned for the blood testing service to return later this year, with Diagnostics –  including x-ray and ultrasound; physiotherapy, musculoskeletal and diabetic retinal screening; and a range of hospital outpatient clinics to follow after that.

Mr Grimes said that he was sorry for the inconvenience this currently meant for patients, but hoped that it would mean many more services could be provided locally in the near future.
